Paediatric Medicine – Exams

Passing the MRCPI in Paediatrics is an essential requirement for a certificate of completion of Basic Specialist Training in Paediatrics. It is also an entry requirement for Higher Specialist Training in Paediatrics and a requirement for doctors who want to become Members of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

There are three components to the MRCPI in Paediatrics:

  1. MRCPI Part I Paediatrics
  2. MRCPI Part II Paediatrics Written
  3. MRCPI Part II Paediatrics Clinical

Remember…

  • You must pass all three components in order to be eligible for a Certificate of Completion of Basic Specialist Training
  • While Basic Specialist Training is a two-year training programme, you have four years from your start date to meet all of the requirements for a Certificate of Completion – You therefore have four years to pass the MRCPI exam
